Consequences of Loneliness?

Unity is an option. You can choose to stay alone or try to stay in touch with friends and family. However, a number of factors make it more difficult to stay connected. As you get older, your social circle begins to shrink. Older friends die, family members start their own families, and people move on. Even if you have friends and family in the area, mobility, illness, and transportation problems can make it difficult to get out of the house to see the people you care about.

Age also comes with certain physical consequences, such as reduced mobility, impaired vision, and difficult health conditions that can make it difficult to leave the house. Confusion can also be a factor. Older adults with urinary incontinence, vision or hearing loss, and those who need assistive devices to get around may feel self-conscious or anxious enough to avoid social situations. As a result, they become increasingly isolated.
